During the interview, Jay mentioned that his favorite song in this particular album is “Take a chance”, which was originally performed by ABBA. “Maganda yung pagkaka-arrange ni Moy eh, nakakaindak”. On the other hand, Moy’s favorite: “Nandito Pa Rin Tayo”, was part of his contribution to the Original Pilipino Music catalogue. According to him, the song is about longevity. “You know, there are very few things that last in life like family and real friendship.” He also added that the song also talks about the “unbelievable” lasting relationship of their group. The album is also very interesting as Jay and Moy spilled that “Group Hug” is completely a collaboration (done with Maestro Gerard Salonga and The FILharmoniKA Orchestra). It was also the very first album that Moy didn’t co-produced because according to him, Mr. Salonga did the final mixes of the album. It was their first orchestral album mastered in the States and it’s also their first time to have a video in one CD. Even with so many scheduled gigs and out of town shows, both guys shared that they still manage to make the most out of their personal lives. Jay told us that his family understands his very hectic schedule. “During lean months naman, doon naming nakakasama talaga ang family”, he cited. When asked about their professions if they’re not part of The CompanY, Jay noted that he would have focus on their family business producing commercials for TV and radio. Twenty four years of good music and the group continues to serenade the Filipino public. “It’s really a blessing to have one another, kasi we’re a family. It’s very comforting.” Moy exclaimed when asked about how the group remains intact in spite of all the challenges that they have faced through the years. “In any life, there are always challenges, disappointments and heartbreaks naman eh. But at least, you are gaining in a little wisdom. It’s a sign of maturity.” In addition, the group wants to thank all their fans who made them stay in the music industry for so many years. “Every single blessing is never taken for granted”. I guess all of their fans including me (the newest huge fan of the group) should wait for the next performances of The CompanY. “2010 is a big year for us. We will be celebrating our silver anniversary. We will be having our concert on October next year, hopefully at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.” So what about the capital letter “Y” in their group name? “The capital letter “Y” is a visual cue that we are a vocal group, because the company is so generic”, Moy explained. |
